The ESSKA 2026 Congress, held in Prague from May 20–22, once again confirmed its role as a key event for the international orthopaedic community. It provided a valuable opportunity to address current clinical challenges, share experience, and explore solutions that are actively contributing to the evolution of knee surgery in everyday practice.
Among the highlights, the symposium “Bridging technology and biology: augmented reality & cementless knee implant evolution” moderated by Prof Roland Becker, past president of the congress offered an important platform for in-depth exchange. Led by an international faculty of experts, the session explored the growing role of augmented reality in supporting surgical precision and intraoperative decision-making, alongside the evolution of cementless solutions in knee arthroplasty. The discussion provided practical, clinically relevant insights, with a particular focus on implant positioning and patient management.
In parallel, the Enovis booth attracted strong interest from attendees, offering the opportunity to explore the full knee portfolio and engage in direct discussions on surgical approaches, implant selection, and the management of different clinical scenarios.
Another key highlight was the launch of Physica CR Porous, which enables the completion of the non-cemented portfolio. The introduction of the porous femoral component allows for a fully cementless implant configuration, combining the Trabecular Titanium tibial plate with LMC configuration. This advancement meaningfully expands the options available to surgeons, offering greater flexibility in implant selection and supporting strategies focused on biological fixation and osseointegration, in line with the growing adoption of cementless approaches.
Overall, ESSKA 2026 represented a valuable opportunity for exchange and clinical update, underscoring the importance of sharing experience and data to support increasingly informed surgical decisions. The discussions initiated during the congress will continue to contribute to the development of targeted solutions, with the shared goal of improving clinical outcomes and supporting surgeons throughout the surgical pathway.
