As part of our clinical campaign, "Soft Tissue Balancing – The Sense of Stability," we are exploring a philosophy that prioritizes patient-specific anatomy to achieve superior functional outcomes—a mission central to the balanSys system.

In our recent clinical discussions, leading experts Prof. S. Eggli (Sonnenhof Clinic, Berne, Switzerland) and Prof. R. Becker (Brandenburg/Havel, Germany) highlighted why TKA must be viewed primarily as a soft tissue procedure. Because nociception and post-operative pain often originate in the soft tissues rather than the bone. This approach moves beyond standard targets, addressing the real-world challenge of mid-flexion instability - the critical checkpoint where the harmony between bony contour and ligament tension coexist without conflict.

The core of this philosophy is a "balancing first, positioning afterwards" sequence. By allowing ligament tension to determine femoral component positioning, surgeons can minimize invasive releases and respect the patient’s individual morphotype.
